An FTSON meeting was held on September 24, 2025, during the Florida Public Transportation Association Workshop in West Palm Beach Florida. The meeting began with the usual safety briefing followed by a review of the meeting agenda. Paul Goyette began the meeting by welcoming the attendees and providing a brief overview of the FTSON. Paul then introduced the FTSON chair and co-chair and discussed nominations for a new chair of the FTSON and how that will work. Paul then informed the group that the 14-90 FAC is awaiting FTA guidance on operator driving hours before it advances any further in the rule making process. Stephanie Lewis then provided an overview of the Transit Emersion Leadership (TILE) program and highlighted the efforts that have taken place and provided an update on upcoming TILE sessions. Stephanie also provided an overview of the work that has been done on several of the apprenticeship programs around the State in partnership with the Transit Workforce Center. Paul then discussed key transit security issues at the FTSON meeting and allowing or time to discuss these if applicable at each FTSON meeting. Paul introduced David Frayer form Sarasota (The Breeze) who presented on “Identifying Safety Mitigation Strategies in The Workplace,” Davids’s presentation highlighted several key strategies for operators to identify potential hazards and risk as they move through their workday. Stephanie Lewis provided and update on all the training happening under the different FDOT/FPTA /CUTR programs. Paul wrapped up the meeting by thanking everyone for coming and to be on the lookout for the next FTSON meeting!
